BIOGRAPHY
Mengzhe Zhao, an active violinist based in New York and Shanghai, has established himself as a versatile and dynamic force in the music field. Recognized for his proficiency as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral violinist. Zhao has left an indelible mark on various platforms.
In his vibrant career, Zhao has graced the airwaves as an orchestral musician on China Central Television(CCTV) and contributed as a chamber violinist in Beijing Television(BRTV) News. In Manhattan School of Music at New York, Zhao serves school symphony orchestra, offering his violinistic prowess to support fellow musicians.
Currently pursuing his Master of Music in Classical Violin Performance at Manhattan School of Music, Zhao studies under the tutelage of Professor Patinka Kopec. His formative years were marked by dedicated instruction from Professor Patinka Kopec, Pinchas Zukerman, Can Gao, Xiaocao Sha and Chenxing Huang, as well as chamber studies with Nicholas Mann, Eugene Drucker, Charles Neidich and Chloe Kiffer. Zhao's also obtained a Bachelor of Music Performance in Violin from Shanghai University, under the guidance of Professor Xiaocao Sha.
Zhao's dedication and talent have been recognized through numerous scholarships and awards. Notable accolades include the president scholarship from Manhattan School of Music and a full scholarship from the String Symposium of the Juilliard School.His exceptional violin skills have been acknowledged with the First Prize at the MAP International Music Competition. Furthermore, Zhao clinched the Second Prize in the China-Korea International Violin Competition, the First Prize in Korea-China International Music Competition, the Second Prize in Italy-Pietro Argento International Music Competition, the Second Price in BMC Young Musician Competition, the First Prize in Yangtze River Delta Music Talent Selection, the First Prize in Asia International Art Competition. Zhao was a recipient of 2020 Singapore International Violin Festival.
As an orchestral musician, Mengzhe has worked under acclaimed conductors such as George Manahan, Noah Bendix-Balgley, David Chan, Daniela Candillari, Marcello Cormio, Harth Bedoya, Christian Baldini.
His involvement as a Guest Violinist at Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Bergen Symphony Orchestra. Mengzhe has been appointed to be the concertmaster of Symphony Orchestra in the Manhattan School of Music in one of the projects. He was also the concertmaster of Shanghai University Symphony Orchestra and the concertmaster of Muse Chamber Orchestra.
Beyond the realm of violin, Zhao's artistic interests extend to write poem, prose and novel.
